Some exciting news!

Hi Everyone,

First of all, we want to thank you everyone who came out to our mini-golf tournament this past weekend. We had a blast and raised over $600.00 for our school in Gulu, Uganda! I will post pictures from the event on the blog as soon as I get the chance.

Second of all, if you don't already know, Laren Poole is coming to UCSD for the All Campus Graduation Celebration (ACGC) on June 11th (Laren is the co-founder of Invisible Children). He is the featured speaker for the event so this is your chance to hear him speak. This event is open to ALL UCSD students. More information here: http://seniors.ucsd.edu/acgc.php

Thirdly, we are partnering with the board of ACGC to put on a screening of one of the Invisible Children documentaries this Tuesday, the 18th at the Forum Room in Price Ctr East Level 4 at 7 p.m! This is a lead in to the ACGC event so if you're interested in getting more familiar with Invisible Children and what Laren Poole does specifically for IC, this is your opportunity to do so. There will be representatives from Invisible Children answering any questions you may have about Invisible Children, the war, or anything else! We hope to see you there.

Lastly, we are having our GBM this Monday in the Thich Nhat Hanh Room @ 8 p.m. (leadership is at 7 and as usual, everyone is welcome to join us and share their thoughts/ideas/suggestions). I recommend anyone that has been active in our club these past couple quarters to attend because we have some very EXCITING news that we would like to share with you all. If you can't make the meeting and are an active member, please get in touch with me.

Oh, one more thing. The LRA Bill has fully passed congress and is on it's way to President Obama's desk! THAT'S RIGHT. WE DID IT!! Watch the Invisible Children video here: http://www.invisiblechildren.com/media/videos/detail.php?id=1654839650 and read more about it here: http://www.resolveuganda.org/node/1024

So much exciting news to share with you all so please come to our GBM this Monday! Hope to see you all there!!

We need your help for our Mini-Golf Tournament!

Hey Everyone,

The Mini-Golf Tournament is slowly coming up! It's on May 8th at Pelly's Mini-Golf in Del Mar from 3-5 p.m. We need everyone's help to make this event a success. Right now, we just need to get some donations for the silent auction that we will be holding at the tournament. If you are interested in helping us with that, please email us at schools4schools@gmail.com and we will send you all of the necessary information, documents, and fliers.

We also need people to help us get people to the tournament! You can do this by talking to your RA and having them put it in their newsletter, ask your friends to come out, talk to your sorority/fraternity/club that you're involved with, asking your family to come, and any other way you can think of. This event is open to EVERYONE and all proceeds will go to our sister school in Gulu, Uganda. We'll be giving out handmade ribbon awards for: Goofiest Golf Get-Up, Highest Par, Best Group Score, Best Individual Score, Highest Frat/Sorority Participation and more! We are coordinating carpools to and from the event as needed.

Register with us here: http://tinyurl.com/s4sputtputt, and you will receive a follow-up email with instructions to purchase pre-sale tickets (either by seeing us on Library Walk at our next tabling date, at our Monday night General Body Meetings, or emailing us and we will get the tickets to you!).

We will also be having dinner at Chevy's afterwards at 5 p.m. and 25% of everything they make will go to us as well. If you can't come to the golf tournament, you can also support us by having dinner with us!

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to email us at schools4schools@gmail.com!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT! Below is our flier for the event that you can use to spread the word!

Hey Everyone,

We are tabling this week on Wednesday, April 7th and Friday, April 9th from 10-2 p.m. If you can come out and help, it would be greatly appreciated. We need someone to help us table from 1-2p.m. on both days because it looks like currently we have no one that can table.

Update!

Hey Everyone,

We hope everyone had a safe and relaxing spring break! Just wanting to update everyone on what is currently going on and what is currently planned. First off, leadership positions have currently changed because, unfortunately, Brie, our president, will not be attending this quarter. Therefore, Auben Kazer and Joanna Oboza are the new co-presidents of S4S. Stephanie Kuhn will take over events coordinator and Amber Frauhiger will be our new treasurer!

In regards to our golf tournament, because of our recent changes with leadership, we thought it would be best for us to move the golf tournament to May 8th, 2010 just so new leadership could get use to their positions before we hold a big event!

We will be having our GBM next week on Monday at the usual time of 8 p.m. (location TBA). This is an important GBM because we will be discussing the plans for the rest of the quarter (i.e., the golf tournament, the dodge ball tournament, tabling, and admit day). We are scheduled to table Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday as well as Saturday for Admit day next week (that's April 7-10)! Monday's GBM is going to be an important meeting because we need all the help in making as much jewelry as possible as well as designing new tote bags (we have just received new supplies to make tote bags) as well as fixing up some of the hats! We look forward to seeing all of you next week!

We love to hear any and all comments, concerns, so please email them to schools4schools@gmail.com or leave us a comment on here or facebook!

Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who came to our screening last night!! It was such a success and we hope we have inspired at least a couple more people. The roadies said that they made the most money and had the most scholarship sign ups from our school so far during their tour so that is so great and we want to thank everyone who bought something or signed up for the Visible Child Scholarship Program. You guys are all changing so many people's lives in Northern Uganda.

We will be holding our leadership and GBM this Monday (location TBA) at 7 p.m. for leadership and 8 p.m. for GBM. Everyone is welcome to our leadership. We will now start planning our mini golf tournament for next quarter as well as our benefit concert for Fall Quarter of next year. Please come to our leadership meeting if you want to be a part of the planning and logistical proccess.

Thank you to everyone again. We appreciate everyone's support so much and we couldn't do anything that we do without people like you. We will post some pictures within the next couple of days.

We hope to see you on Monday!!
